The Zeedijk, one of Amsterdam's oldest streets, has a long, winding history. It was once a shipping district, highly esteemed in the 17th century until the affluent population moved to the Herengracht. Subsequently, the street was home to alluring activities for sailors, but has been restored over the last decade and is now the center of Amsterdam's Chinatown and a popular centre for the LGBT+ community.
