Description

The Trip brothers' grey stone mansion, brilliantly designed by Dutch architect Justus Vingboons in 1660, was constructed with the substantial profits made from arms dealing. The impressive facade is supported by eight Corinthian columns, with two houses built side by side for each brother. As a wry acknowledgement of their profession, the chimneys have been fashioned to resemble mortars.
