The Stedelijk Museum boasts an incredible array of art from the collection of postwar curator Willem Sandberg, from Picasso, Matisse, and Mondrian to Van Gogh, Rothko, Koons, and so many more. On the ground floor, the Stedelijk Base exhibition features highlights of this extraordinary collection as well as a vibrant Karel Appel mural. In addition, the museum holds wonderful temporary exhibitions, and visitors can enjoy free and informative audioguides and guided tours (which should be booked in advance). Best of all, it's rarely necessary to wait in line!
