A documentary and research institution founded in 1935

The International Institute of Social History (IISH) is one of the world’s most extensive in the field of social history. Specifically it covers the history of the labor movement. It holds a vast number of archival collections as well as printed volumes and audio visual materials.

Most of these collections are open to the public. The International Institute of Social History also allows access to their documents and research by way of an online catalogue. The IISH is also home to the Netherlands Economic History Archive and the Press Museum. A reading room is open for visitors to access information for reference and research.
