Description

Just a 20-minute bike ride south of Amsterdam's Vondelpark lies the sprawling, 1000-hectare Amsterdam Forest. Planted in 1934 to alleviate the strain of the Great Depression, this countryside wonderland is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Bicycle rentals are available, and visitors can take in the tranquil lakes, woods, and meadows while enjoying a bite at one of the many cafes. In spring, visitors can take part in the popular activity of feeding baby goats. Horse riding lessons, boating, open-air theatre, and a treetop climbing park are also available in the forest.
