Description

Named after its first professor of archaeology, Allard Pierson (1831–96), the Allard Pierson Museum is a small but impressive archaeological collection run by the University of Amsterdam. Visitors will have the chance to see a mummy, ancient Greek and Mesopotamian vases, a remarkable wagon from the royal tombs at Salamis (Cyprus), and galleries of artifacts showing what life was like in ancient times. In-depth descriptions are available in both Dutch and English.
